beyond building buildings…

-Building Lives-

Our impact extends beyond the built environment. We launched the Empowering Next Generations program to open opportunities for youth to gain exposure, mentorship, and career guidance from accomplished engineers, architects in the top-notch firms working on our projects. Our goal: nurture a new generation of diverse leaders in the built industry.

A NEW DAWN ON WEST BALTIMORE STREET

We transform Structurally disinvested communities

We are a mission-driven real estate development firm dedicated to creating high-end housing suitable for women who are heads of households.

Working hand in hand with a community, we bring about projects of scale and significance to force a paradigm shift in one’s view of that community.

HOW WE WORK

We operate at the intersection of:

  1. Highly skilled finance expertise

  2. Lived experience of the issues that we seek to address

  3. Deep ties to the communities where we work

This Gensler-designed groundbreaking mixed-use building will replace blighted rowhouses that have been vacant since 1978.

MADIKIZELA | 1401-1403 W Baltimore St

The community wished for a new edifice that would be memorable and could generate new energy and interest in the area — we invited them to create it with us.

— High-End Apartments

We are intentional about the well-being of our future residents and we design spaces where we would love to live ourselves. We build for families, especially for those of solo-moms. Madikizela is a thoughtfully designed and highly visible space with upscale amenities that include a courtyard and rooftop.

There is something powerful about a child who is proud of her home. It is what drives us.

— The Madikizela Café

An Afrocentric café that will introduce Baltimoreans to the tastes and culture of Africa. The vision is to have a library of books and various volumes about Africa, its history, music, and culture. It is envisioned as a space that will bring people of different background together.

The space will also include a women cooperative that will celebrate entrepreneurship by women.

— The Teen Shack

The community needed a space for teens to socialize and collaborate. We conceived the Teen Shack as a STEM makerspace to be equipped with a 3D printer.

It solves a conundrum for parents: how to engage children in activities that enrich their minds while still being stimulating and fun.

It is an important fourth place that bridges the gaps for childcare, socialization, creativity and education.
